Solana Gets its First ETF Approval

We've just caught wind of some massive news for fans of Solana (SOL), a top 10 crypto by market cap.

The world’s first spot Solana ETF has officially landed.

Previously, we speculated that Solana ETFs could be just around the corner — signalling massive news for not just SOL holders, but the broader crypto community as a whole.

Here's what this means for you.

Canada Becomes the First Country to Approve Solana ETFs

Purpose Investments, the Canadian firm known for launching the first Bitcoin and Ether ETFs, is once again ahead of the curve with a new product: the Purpose Solana ETF (SOLL).

And it’s not just a first — it’s also staked. This isn’t just a fund that holds SOL; it actually stakes the tokens too, meaning investors get exposure to Solana and earn passive yield from staking — all within a regulated ETF structure.

This is a huge moment not just for Solana, but for the broader crypto market.

For years, crypto ETFs were limited to Bitcoin and Ethereum. Now, we’re seeing a clear signal that demand is growing for more diverse crypto exposure.

“This is about making it easy for investors to tap into the real value of the Solana network — not just the asset, but the staking rewards too,” said Vlad Tasevski, Purpose’s Chief Innovation Officer, in a press release. “With SOLL, people don’t have to figure out how to stake or manage private keys. They just buy the ETF and we handle the rest.”

The ETF trades under three tickers: SOLL (CAD hedged), SOLL.B (CAD unhedged), and SOLL.U (USD), directly on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It’s even eligible for registered accounts like RRSPs and TFSAs, making it that much easier for Canadian investors to plug into the Solana ecosystem.

For Solana, this is a major stamp of legitimacy. Being listed in a regulated, institutional-grade investment product puts SOL on a new playing field and opens the door for adoption from traditional investors who might’ve been sitting on the sidelines.

All eyes are now on when regulators elsewhere, like in the U.S., will follow Canada’s lead. But one thing’s for sure: the Solana ETF era has officially begun.

Why Are Crypto ETFs So Bullish?

Ever since the approval of the world's first Bitcoin ETFs received the green light, altcoin holders have waited with baited breath to see if other tokens would follow suit.

Ethereum became the second coin to join the ETF wave last year, with the first-ever approval of Ethereum ETFs.

ETFs are exchange-traded funds, and they play a vital role in bridging the gap between traditional finance and crypto.

Effectively, they allow traditional traders to profit on the performance of crypto, making it as easy to bet on crypto as it is to bet on any other stock.

When you consider how unlikely most of your friends, parents, or co-workers are to set up their own crypto wallet, that's massive news.
